GAIA Clay Sprouter - Ink Blue - with Sprouting Guide

The GAIA Sprouter

Highly Nutritious Sprouts on Demand

If, like me, you see the word 'sprout' and shudder, then you've got the wrong end of the stick. The GAIA Clay Sprouter from GAIA Sprouters has nothing to do with the little round vegetables that menace dinner plates the world over. No, what we are talking about here are freshly sprouted seeds, such as alfalfa or broccoli, or mung beans and their like.

You may wonder why you should bother growing new vegetables when you can nip down the shops and buy fully grown vegetables off the shelf. Well, it is a little known fact that many vegetables hit their nutritional peak when they are but mere seedlings, or sprouts, making this Gaia Sprouter perfect for individuals wanting extra nutritional punch from their greens.

So why are these young sprouts so good for you? Because they're packed with bio-available enzymes, phytonutrients (plant chemicals containing protective, disease-preventing, compounds), vitamins, minerals, amino-acids and proteins, all easily digested and absorbed.

About the GAIA Sprouter

For sprouts to grow in the GAIA Sprouter, only a small amount of space and basic equipment is needed. It does not depend on the seasons, nor does it require any fertilizers.

The GAIA Sprouter consists of 2 growing trays, base and lid. The growing trays are made of unglazed earthenware that is highly porous and able to breathe allowing the absorption and release of moisture to maintain a constant level of humidity. The lid and base are glazed to make them non-porous and easier to clean. Each sprouter is hand-assembled to the best fit and comes with an instruction guide. The GAIA Clay Sprouter is suitable for sprouting seeds, germinating beans and pulses and growing plant shoots, microgreens or grasses.

GAIA Clay Sprouters are hand-crafted and have the GAIA brand mark on the side of the sprouting tray. The clay is sourced directly from the place of crafting and glazes used for the lid and the base are lead free and certified non-toxic.

Full instructions and 6 filter paper discs are included.

Care of your Gaia sprouter
The GAIA sprouter has two types of clay finish - glazed and unglazed. Glazed parts can be washed with a sponge in warm, soapy water. Unglazed clay parts are porous and therefore able to absorb water.

For cleaning:
Use warm water and non-scratch dish sponge to clean the sprouter parts from the inside.

To sterilise unglazed parts, boil the trays in water for 5 minutes. One tablespoon of white vinegar per a tray can be added to the boiling water.

Alternatively, sterilise unglazed parts for 1 hour in a 1% solution of Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide (dilute down to 1% with distilled water).
