» Vitamin E - What is it?
Vitamin E is not one single compound. The term refers to a group of eight fat-soluble compounds; four tocopherols and four tocotrienols.
But don’t let big words put you off. Tocopherols and tocotrienols are simply the names given to a range of compounds found in various foods such as plant or nut oils, green leafy vegetables and things like avocados, kiwifruit and tomatoes. These food are said to be rich in vitamin E and therefore good for you. But in what way?
Vitamin E’s main benefit is to protect DNA, proteins and lipids (structural components of cell membranes) from oxidative damage (oxidation).
If you think you might not be eating enough of the right kind of foods, then a Vitamin E supplement could be for you. Our range of Vitamin E supplements utilise the most biologically active tocopherols.
