What is Curcumin C3 Complex?
Curcumin C3 Complex is a patented curcumin complex with a unique composition ratio, providing curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin, collectively known as curcuminoids. It is an extract derived from the rhizomes (roots) of the plant Curcuma longa, also known as turmeric. Extracted from sustainably-grown, non-GMO crops of Curcuma longa, Curcumin C3 Complex is a very high quality, consistent, safe and efficacious form of curcumin that has been studied extensively in a variety of research initiatives.
The additional curcuminoids contained in Curcumin C3 Complex help to stabilise the curcumin and provide additional protective antioxidant benefits. Curcumin C3 Complex is more soluble because of the inclusion of bisdemethoxycurcumin, making the formula more absorbable in the gastrointestinal tract, and able to provide more health benefits than curcumin alone.
Why is Black Pepper/BioPerine important?
BioPerine is a patented extract obtained from black pepper fruits (Piper nigrum). Typically, curcumin is not well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, but BioPerine has been shown to help improve absorption of this compound by up to 2000% compared to bioavailability of curcumin alone. BioPerine has been used as a bioavailability enhancer for over 20 years and has undergone clinical studies to substantiate its safety and efficacy for nutritional use.
Are curcumin and turmeric the same thing?
Not exactly. Turmeric refers to the yellow-coloured Indian spice derived from the root of the plant scientifically known as Curcuma longa. Turmeric contains a number of naturally-occurring chemical compounds, known as curcuminoids, of which curcumin is the most active.
Why are standardised extracts important?
A standardised herbal extract is a specific concentration of one or more of the chemical compounds found in the plant. It guarantees that the potency and amount of active compounds contained in the product is the same as those advertised on the label and is consistent from batch to batch. With standardised herbal extracts, you know you're getting a sufficient amount of the beneficial compound, as determined by scientific evidence.
What other areas of health are supported?
Curcumin has such broad uses for a wide range of health conditions, having been shown in studies to be helpful for supporting, among others, joint health and mobility, brain function, digestion, skin and cardiovascular health.
