» What is Ginseng?
Siberian Ginseng is a herb that only grows in the cooler regions of the Northern hemisphere, mostly in South-East Russia and Northern China. Its roots and leaves are used in a variety of nutritional supplements.
How is Siberian Ginseng made?
The root of the Ginseng plant is dried and can be supplied either whole or sliced. Most Ginseng is sent for processing where the active constituent (eleutheroside) is extracted then converted into powder, the basis of most Siberian Ginseng products.
A Bit of History and Science.
Ginseng was first discovered around 5000 years ago in Manchuria, a mountainous region of China. It was probably first used as a food but quickly became known for its medicinal properties. Jump forward a few thousand years to the 1900’s and the demand for Ginseng finally outstripped the wild supply leading to the first crops for commercial use.
Ginseng is an adaptogenic herb. It contains many active chemical compounds, one of which is ‘eleuthero.’
