» What is Black Seed Oil?
The Black Seeds used to make fragrant Black Seed Oil come from the Black Cumin plant, also known as nigella sativa, part of the buttercup family. The seeds, also known as the ‘blessed seed,’ are thin and crescent-shaped before pressing and have been cherished for their health benefits for many hundreds of years, especially in the Mediterranean, Middle-East and India.
Black Cumin Seeds are crammed with over 100 chemical compounds, the primary active ingredient of which is crystalline nigellone. Also packed in there are thymoquinone, beta sitosterol, myristic acid (important fatty acid), vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, folic acid, calcium, iron, copper, zinc, and phosphorous and a host of other healthy fatty acids such as Linoleic acid (Omega -6) and Oleic acid (Omega -9).
