» What is Stevia?
Stevia Rebaudiana is a plant belonging to the sunflower family. It grows throughout South America and other sub-tropical areas and has a variety of different names; sweet leaf, honey leaf and sugar leaf are just a few and give a hint as to why this plant is so popular.
Stevia posseses a sweet taste that is calorie free and currently used around the world as a sugar substitute (sugstitute?). Unlike many others however, Stevia is regarded as safe as it is simply a plant with a very sweet taste rather than a synthetic sugar substitute.
Many Stevia products are now available, from liquids to powdered forms, some with added beneficial nutrients like inulin and chromium.
