» What is Rapeseed Oil?
Rapeseed Oil is the Great British alternative to Olive Oil. It is exceptionally high in the essential fatty acids (EFA's) Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9. These are important substances that we can only get from food. The correct balance between Omega-3 and Omega-6 is essential for optimum health but in the West we tend to eat far too much Omega-6 and not enough Omega-3.
Rapeseed oil contains valuable amounts of Vitamin E, particularly gamma-tocopherol. Rapeseed oil also has the highest levels of plant sterols of any oils, especially β-sitosterol and campesterols.
Consumption of Omega-3 fatty acids contributes to:
- The maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels
- The normal function of the heart
- The maintenance of normal blood triglyceride levels
- The maintenance of normal blood pressure
- Normal brain function
- Normal vision
Rapeseed Oil was first recorded in the English language at the end of the 14th century and is the third largest source of vegetable oil in the world.
